Matt Williams, up till recently head of StarHub's consumer business group, will be taking over from Nikhil Eapen as the telco's CEO with effect from Jan 1 2027.
Williams joined the telco just last May. He was appointed deputy CEO a year later. Prior to StarHub, he was managing director for consumer business and customer solutions at Optus, the Australian subsidiary of Singapore Telecommunications.
With effect from June 24, Williams will be CEO-designate.
Eapen, a former investment banker, took on his current role on Jan 1 2021. Prior to StarHub, he was deputy CEO at Singapore Technologies Telemedia, StarHub's controlling shareholder.
StarHub was widely thought to acquire rival M1 but Keppel, which controls the latter, sold M1 to Simba instead.

While the deal has fallen through, industry players and observers believe that market consolidation will still take place.
StarHub's chairman Olivier Lim says Eapen led the company through a "period of significant dynamism in the telco sector."
"Succession planning is a continuous process and consistent with this approach, the CEO succession has been managed smoothly in line with Nikhil's own plans," he adds.
Lim says Williams has proven to be an ideal successor to build on the progress achieved through the transformation of the company.
