LinkedIn's latest data show Gen Z is set to become Singapore’s most active job-hunting cohort in 2026, with 66% planning to look for new roles. By contrast, economic uncertainty is prompting many Millennials and Gen X professionals to stay put, reducing overall job mobility.
Gen Z is also the most aggressive adopter of AI in the hiring process. Nearly half of Gen Z respondents (45%) already use AI tools to draft application responses, run mock interviews, and create work samples, compared to Millennials (36%), Gen X (32%), and Baby Boomers (17%).
However, the wider use of AI has made standing out harder. Among Gen Z respondents, 44% cited “not knowing how to stand out amidst strong competition” as their top concern in today’s digital hiring landscape.
That frustration cuts across age groups. Four in ten professionals (42%) say the job-seeking process would improve if recruiters and hiring managers provided clearer feedback on why candidates were unsuccessful and what they could do better in future.
“There’s no question that Singapore’s job market is more competitive than ever, and Gen Z professionals are feeling this most strongly. To support Gen Z and all jobseekers, companies can help by being transparent about the skills they value,” says Serla Rusli, a LinkedIn career expert.
The tougher market is also reshaping career choices. Almost a third of Singaporean professionals (32%) say they have expanded their job search beyond their current industry. Gen Z and Millennials are leading that shift, with 33% and 34% respectively, willing to explore new sectors, compared with Gen X (30%) and Boomers (17%).

For some, that exploration includes entrepreneurship. LinkedIn’s Jobs on the Rise list shows demand is growing not only for founders, but also for roles that help young companies scale, including fundraising managers, business development managers and marketing representatives.
