A thoroughbred pedigree sets Volkswagen apart from rest of the herd
VW, the grand dame of the automotive world, has grown with Singapore as it passed through the hands of several authorised distributors over more than half a century.
The venerable brand has also lived through the tumultuous economic ups and downs our island-nation has experienced, but has managed to retain an unmistakable identity that is indubitably VW, regardless of model.
Volkswagen Group Singapore would take over direct sales of the VW brand in 2007, with the brand’s evergreen range of enduring staples continuing to find homes all over Singapore. This is no big surprise, especially since “Volkswagen” literally means “people’s car”.
More importantly, the range of VW models now encompasses a myriad of body styles and powertrains, simply because people’s needs have evolved and expanded through the years.
From the Golf to Beetle, the Jetta to Passat, and to the crossovers, MPVs and today’s electrified ID range, there is something reassuring and comfortingly familiar about VW’s models, where the improvements to its cars are more holistic than hype.

The uprising of new challengers in an age of electrified vehicles means it is more critical than ever to maintain a strong sense of self, because it is this pedigree that sets VW apart from the rest of the madding herd.
