United Overseas Bank (UOB) has conducted a three-day leadership programme for 63 children of UOB Privilege Banking clients aged 18 to 25. The programme, held from July 14 to 16, was done in partnership with the Singapore Management University (SMU) Business Families Institute and Steward Leadership Institute (SLI). This is the first time the bank has worked with the university for such a programme.
The programme, named UOB PriviGen 2026, is designed to help the next generation of the bank's privilege banking clients build the confidence to navigate future opportunities, gain practical and real-world exposure to leadership and financial decision-making, and build connections and perspectives among like-minded peers.
Some of the highlights include learning to "negotiate like a pro" in a game of coffee traders, and navigating a Vuca world. Vuca stands for volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity.
"We believe that preparing the next generation goes beyond financial literacy. It is about equipping them with the values, confidence and judgement to navigate an increasingly complex world," says Jacquelyn Tan, head, group personal financial services at UOB.
"UOB PriviGen 2026 reflects our commitment to supporting our clients and their families at every stage of their wealth journey by providing meaningful learning opportunities, real-world perspectives and valuable connections," she adds. "Through our collaboration with SMU Business Families Institute and SLI, we aim to empower the next generation to make informed decisions, seize opportunities and build a future of purpose and success."
