Since the group’s public listing in 1991, Wee “steadily expanded its business into a global international player in the distribution and retailing of tyres and wheels, and the manufacturing of wheels”, says Stamford Tyres in its announcement.
Despite stepping down from the board of Stamford Tyres on Nov 1, 2021, Wee stayed on as the group’s founder and senior and provided guidance and course to the board.
Stamford Tyres adds: “Highly-regarded in the tyre industry and the business world, his passion for and in-depth knowledge of the tyre business gained him international recognition.”
In its announcement, the board of Stamford Tyres expresses its gratitude for Wee’s contributions, service and commitment, which has “made a significant difference to the Group on the charting of its strategic directions and business”.
