As a D-SII, Prudential is recognised for its significant size and market importance such that it plays a critical role in the stability of the domestic financial system and broader economic activity of Hong Kong. "Prudential supports regulatory enhancements that strengthen the resilience of Hong Kong as a leading financial services centre and the continued delivery of high-quality service for its customers," the announcement says.
On Oct 17. Prudential plc confirmed that its business operations and multi-year capital management programme, announced with its 1H2025 results, are unaffected following Prudential Corporation Asia Limited (PCAL)’s classification today as a Domestic Systemically Important Insurer (D-SII) by the Insurance Authority Hong Kong. PCAL is the senior regulated entity within the group.
Prudential remains strongly capitalised with a shareholder solvency ratio of 267% and capital surplus of USD $16.2 billion.
