SIIC Environment Holdings has announced its 58%-owned subsidiary, the Baoqing Branch Office of the Shuangyashan Longjiang Environmental Water Co, has signed a supplementary agreement with the Housing and Urban-Rural Development Bureau of the Baoqing County for the upgrade and expansion of the Baoqing wastewater treatment plant project.
The expansion involves upgrading the discharge standard of the existing capacity of 20,000 tonnes from Class I Standard B to Class I Standard A. SIIC Environment will also increase the capacity of the project by an additional 20,000 tonnes.

Meanwhile, SIIC Environment also disclosed that it has recently commenced commercial operations on seven wastewater treatment plant projects in China for a total capacity of 250,000 tonnes. The projects encompass two expansion projects and five upgrading projects, and are expected to "contribute positively to the group’s performance going forward".
Shares in SIIC Environment closed 1.5 cents or 6.67% lower at 21 cents on May 19.
