ComfortDelGro has obtained the Milestone testing regime level 1 (M1) license for autonomous vehicles (AVs) on public roads, says the company on Dec 10.
The license will enable CDG’s AVs to be able to conduct trials for its Punggol route.
CDG, on Sept 20, said its autonomous shuttle service, Zig Driverless, will begin in Punggol later in the year. The shuttles are done in partnership with Chinese tech firm, Pony.ai. CDG signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Pony.ai to try commercialising robotaxis in China in August 2024.
According to CDG, it is looking to conduct its trials in 1Q2026. The group will be taking passengers after mapping and live road testing.
“Completing the CETRAN Milestone 1 batch assessment successfully highlights our dedication to innovation, safety and operational excellence,” says Cheng Siak Kian, group CEO of ComfortDelGro.
“This achievement meets the stringent standards for AV systems, enabling us to responsibly introduce intelligence transport systems in Singapore,” he adds.
