While the world obsesses over the latest artificial intelligence (AI) chips and supporting cloud platforms, a quieter revolution is unfolding in the infrastructure that makes AI actually work.
Singapore-headquartered xFusion has positioned itself as the hidden engineer solving what it calls the "fundamental physics problems of the AI era." It is tackling the unglamorous but critical computing infrastructure challenges that determine whether expensive AI chips can actually perform, specifically heat dissipation, data transmission, and power consumption.
The pitch is simple but compelling. According to xFusion, the AI chip is the engine, but a Formula 1 engine in a family car chassis is a waste. As such, it is building the high-performance chassis, suspension, and fuel system that allows the engine to perform at its peak.
xFusion calls this approach “Black Technology”, a way of rethinking every layer of server design to squeeze out more performance and efficiency. Instead of just assembling off-the-shelf parts, the company redesigns the details that others often overlook — namely, cooling systems, the circuit boards, and the way power flows through the machine — which gives its solutions a performance and efficiency edge.
At the same time, xFusion ensures its proprietary “Black Technology” remains open. Its servers work with all the major chips and accelerators on the market and use widely adopted standards like PCIe. This means organisations can get a performance boost from xFusion’s deep engineering, with the confidence their systems will still connect seamlessly with existing multi-vendor environments.
Addressing cooling, data and power bottlenecks
The impact of that hidden engineering is best seen in the numbers. xFusion’s proprietary cooling systems can dissipate up to 850W through air conditioning cooling and as much as 1,500W through direct liquid cooling for a single chip, making them ready to support future chip generations.
At the data centre level, this translates into a partial power usage effectiveness (pPUE) of less than 1.06 with a centralised coolant distribution unit and liquid-cooled set-up. With a full liquid cooling and waste heat recovery system, the data centre approaches a pPUE of 1.0, essentially eliminating cooling overhead entirely.
However, cooling is only one piece of the puzzle. An expensive GPU starved for data is useless. To eliminate such bottlenecks, xFusion designs its own high-speed printed circuit boards (PCBs) and connectors, owning the entire signal path to ensure the "data superhighway" inside the server.
Using proprietary local signal to noise ratio signal integrity and power integrity (LSNR SI/PI) modelling, the company designs PCBs that are a generation ahead of industry standards. The result is optimised performance across any chip platform, which is an edge over competitors that rely on reference designs.
Power efficiency is another focus. With electricity accounting for over 50% of data centre operating expenses, power efficiency is as much a financial imperative as it is an environmental concern. xFusion is one of the few server companies that develops its own core power technologies, including industry-leading Titanium power supply units (PSU).
A single xFusion 3kW Titanium PSU can save a customer over 1,400 kilowatt-hours of electricity over five years compared to a standard PSU. In a rack with dozens of servers, this translates into tens of thousands of dollars in direct operational savings.
Proving ground in extreme conditions
That business case is perhaps clearest in the field. For example, Algerian oil company ENAGEO partnered with xFusion to build a data centre in the heart of the Sahara Desert, one of the world’s most demanding environments.
By deploying xFusion’s extreme-ready FusionServers, advanced cooling technologies, and AI-powered fault-healing tools, ENAGEO cut downtime by 66%. In industries where every minute of outage can mean millions in losses, that reliability premium carries real weight.
xFusion’s solutions also strengthened ENAGEO’s data security and operational stability while boosting overall efficiency and data management capabilities. This proves hidden engineering can deliver tangible business results under the toughest conditions.
Designed in Singapore, assembled in Malaysia
Beyond ENAGEO, xFusion now serves more than 10,000 customers across 100 countries, spanning telecommunications, financial services, internet platforms, education, scientific research, and energy. Its high double-digit growth over the past three years has been fuelled primarily by rising demand for AI-ready infrastructure.
That growth is underpinned by a two-country model in Southeast Asia. Singapore serves as the company’s global headquarters and innovation hub, housing research and development (R&D) and international operations. The city’s land and power constraints push the company to develop high-density, liquid-cooled, energy-efficient solutions — creating blueprints for sustainable data centres.
Meanwhile, Penang in Malaysia anchors production with capacity for 200,000 servers a year, combining cost-efficient manufacturing with proximity to Singapore's innovation base. This "Designed in Singapore, Assembled in Malaysia" strategy also positions the corridor as a geopolitically-neutral and resilient supply chain alternative that is backed by strong legal frameworks and stable, world-class logistics.

The company’s commitment extends to supporting national agendas. To help Singapore realise its Smart Nation vision, xFusion provides energy-efficient and high-density servers that form the critical foundation for sustainable, powerful data centres needed for digital government, urban mobility, and national research projects.
In Malaysia, a new Kuala Lumpur office supports the country's MyDIGITAL initiative and its growing digital economy.
This “glocal” (global-local) hub-and-spoke model is already being replicated in Europe and the Middle East, with strategic hubs in Germany and Saudi Arabia driving regional growth and ecosystem development.
xFusion’s global presence is equally significant. It runs nine research centres in hubs such as Singapore, Germany, and Tokyo. It also operates seven regional offices across Southeast Asia, Europe, Latin America, Eurasia, Japan and South Korea, China, and the Middle East and Africa. Moreover, six Global Technical Assistance Centres provide 24/7 support in 10 languages, ensuring round-the-clock coverage for customers in every time zone.
Partner for the AI agent era
xFusion’s ambitions now extend inward. The company is undergoing an internal transformation designed to mirror the changes it is driving for its customers. The shift from xFusion 1.0 (Business Reconstruction) to xFusion 2.0 (Technology Reconstruction) aims to turn the firm into what it calls an intelligent enterprise.
Guided by its vision of "Let Computing Serve You Better," xFusion is evolving into a visible and leading brand in the AI ecosystem. To deliver this promise for customers, the company is first applying it internally.
As part of this overhaul, xFusion is re-engineering its operations with more than 90 AI agents to drive efficiency. It is also accelerating its innovation process, targeting a future where over half of its R&D code is AI-generated. Employees are being empowered with AI-guided workflows and coaching, embedding the technology across every role. By rebuilding its own operations with AI, xFusion hopes to gain expertise that can be applied directly to customers.
xFusion is on a path to becoming more than just a server supplier, evolving into a full-fledged innovator in computing infrastructure and services. Beyond selling AI-era tools, the company sees itself as a trusted partner, using those same technologies to shape its own future and help customers build the era of intelligent agents.
