The Edge Singapore won two awards at the State Street Institutional Press Awards Asia Pacific 2024 on April 8 with separate cover stories on reviving the Singapore bourse and impact investing trends.
The annual award recognises outstanding news reporting on institutional finance in the region. This year’s edition received 200 entries across 14 categories.
The Edge Singapore’s cover story, titled “Making the Singapore market great again” (Issue 1160: Where is the love?) won top prize in the “Investor Services” category for English language news.
A joint effort by past and present members of the editorial team, the cover story from October 2024 explored reasons behind a spate of delistings from the Singapore Exchange and market perspectives on what could be done to arrest the trend.
The full cover package also featured exclusive interviews with Bursa Malaysia’s chairman and CEO by former assistant editor Khairani Afifi Noordin and former senior writer Nicole Lim, along with sidebars on how Singapore’s spacs fizzled out (by Khairani), why firms choose to remain listed (by associate editor Felicia Tan) and various methods of privatising a listed company (by executive editor Goola Warden).
Separately, The Edge Singapore associate editor Jovi Ho was “highly commended” for his cover story from April 2024 on the evolution of the impact investing landscape in Singapore. Ho was selected as runner-up for the “Journalist of the Year – Sustainable Investments & Stewardship” award for English language news.

About the awards
The State Street Institutional Press Awards were introduced into the Asia Pacific in 2012, an extension of the State Street Institutional Press Awards held annually in London since 2002.
The winning articles were chosen based on their style, content, accuracy and timeliness, and were judged by an independent panel of seven industry professionals led by William Mellor, former senior writer and Asia correspondent for Bloomberg News.
Mellor says: “This year’s entries once again demonstrated exceptional talent, creativity, and a commitment to the highest-quality of journalism. The judges were thoroughly impressed by the depth and diversity of the submissions, which made the selection process both inspiring and incredibly challenging. These awards are a testament to the enduring importance of journalism in our ever-evolving financial landscape.”
