Singapore Airlines (SIA) has redesignated Peter Seah Lim Huat as a non-independent of the company following the group’s 53rd AGM on July 25.

Seah was appointed as a director on the board of SIA on Sept 1, 2015 and as a chairman on Jan 1, 2017.

He remains the chairman of SIA and member of the board of compensation and industrial relations committee, and the board nominating committee.

Following this AGM resolution, Goh Swee Chen has been appointed as lead independent director and chairperson of the board nominating committee; and Jeanette Wong Kai Yuan has been appointed as chairperson of the board compensation and industrial relations committee.

Seah was a banker for 33 years before retiring as vice chairman and CEO of the former Overseas Union Bank in 2001.

He currently holds positions as chairman and director of DBS Group Holdings, where he was appointed to the board in Nov 2009, and assumed the role of chairman on May 1, 2010. He is also a director of the board of GIC, and deputy chairman of STT Communications.

Shares in SIA closed 2 cents higher or 0.265% up at $7.57 on July 25.
