The chairmanship is rotated among the three Singapore banks – DBS, OCBC and UOB – once every three years.
Hwee takes over the position from Ching Wei Hong, deputy president of OCBC Bank. Ching is also the chairman of the Bank of Singapore and OCBC Securities.
He has been the chairman of NETS since Sept 1, 2018.

Hwee has served as a director of the NETS board since 2002, and comes with over 30 years of experience in banking and operations, including 20 years at UOB.

In addition, she is a member of UOB’s management executive committee and spearheads the bank’s innovation initiatives and sets the global standards for UOB’s technological platform and operational processes.
