UBS has appointed former SGX chairman Kwa Chong Seng as announced the appointment of Chong Seng as the bank's chairman Singapore and South-east Asia.
Kwa's appointment will start on Dec 1.
In this Singapore-based role, Kwa will provide strategic oversight, strengthen partnerships and relationships for the bank in Singapore and support the bank's continued growth and innovation across the region.
Kwa will report directly to Iqbal Khan, president of UBS Asia Pacific and the co-president of global wealth management at UBS.
In an internal memo, UBS says Kwa will also work closely with Edmund Koh, chairman UBS Asia Pacific, and Jin Yee Young, the bank's Singapore country head and co-head of GWM Asia Pacific.
Kwa is a familiar name in the local corporate scene.

Besides his former SGX chairmanship, he was also chairman or director of various government-linked companies such as ST Engineering, Neptune Orient Lines, Olam International and DBS Group Holdings.
He was also chairman of Fullerton Fund Management and Media Corporation of Singapore, and deputy chairman of both Temasek Holdings and the Public Service Commission Singapore.
Kwa is currently chairman of UltraGreen.ai, a Singapore-based medtech company that is poised to list as a unicorn on the Singapore Exchange.
Before Kwa, another senior SGX executive, Gan Seow Ann, has joined UBS. Gan, formerly co-president at SGX, in 2013 joined UBS as executive vice chairman of Global Wealth Management.
