UBS, a partner of the Mercedes-AMG Petronas (Mercedes) Formula One (F1) Team family since 2011, hosted an exclusive roundtable for Singapore’s young aspiring F1 drivers with UBS global brand ambassador and driver for Mercedes, George Russell.
The roundtable, held at UBS’s office on Oct 1 ahead of the race weekend saw Russell speaking with young racing talents in Singapore from Motor Sports Singapore (MSS), together with Young Jin Yee, co-head UBS global wealth management Asia-Pacific (APAC) and country head UBS Singapore.
UBS says that investing in talent development is “part of the firm’s DNA,” referring to its in-house ‘UBS University’ learning platform which offers a multitude of courses for employees, to partnering local institutions such as the Institute of Banking and Finance and Workforce Singapore to launch new programs and job opportunities for fresh graduates and mid-career professionals in Singapore.
Russell says: “Participating in the Singapore Grand Prix is a culmination of years of training. I started racing at an early age of 8 and was privileged to join the Mercedes Junior Programme.”
“The biggest takeaway from the programme was how it gave me a chance to perform and fulfil my true potential. That is why I strongly believe in supporting the next generation of racers. It was great to meet Singapore’s young local racing talents at UBS’s exclusive dialogue session,” he adds.
Young says: “At our specially organised roundtable for young local racing talents, George shares his lessons from the track – from racing tips to a top performer’s mindset and philosophy. UBS is glad to be able to make a positive impact on today's youth and we seek to continue to do so through our various community initiatives.”
