SGX-listed ETFs see record AUM, robust net inflows in 3QFY2025

Exchange-traded funds (ETFs) on the Singapore Exchange (SGX) saw net inflows of $736 million in the 3QFY2025 ended Sept 30, bringing net inflows to $1.4 billion year to date.

Singapore-focused ETFs recorded quarterly inflows of $788 million. Singapore dollar (SGD) fixed income ETFs led inflows with $426 million while Singapore-focused REIT ETFs and Singapore equity ETFs brought in $197 million and $166 million, respectively.

As at Sept 30, there are a total of 50 ETFs listed on the Singapore bourse with total assets under management (AUM) reaching a record $16.3 billion, 40% higher y-o-y. Of this, equity ETFs make up the bulk at $7.2 billion, followed by fixed income at $4.5 billion. Gold and REIT ETFs rounded up the total with AUMs of $3.2 billion and $1.4 billion respectively. The AUM was a new high for REIT ETFs.

The month of September saw the highest monthly turnover in the past five years, surpassing levels last seen in March 2020. Average daily turnover in 3QFY2025 surged by 68% y-o-y to $30.6 million while daily turnovers for fixed income and gold ETFs spiked by 204% and 112% to $8 million and $6.3 million respectively.

Daily turnover for equity ETFs rose by 33% y-o-y to $11.1 million while daily turnover for REIT ETFs rose by 24% y-o-y to $5.2 million.

Among the ETFs, SPDR Gold Shares came on top in terms of net inflows with AUM increasing to $3.2 billion after year-to-date inflows of $628 million. The ETF was also the most actively-traded one with an average daily turnover of $6.3 million.

During the quarter, the CSOP CSI Star and ChiNext 50 Index ETF, which tracks the CSI Star & ChiNext 50 Index was the best-performing ETF with total returns of 67.5%. The Lion-OCBC Securities SG Low Carbon Index ETF was the top dividend paying ETF in the 3QFY2025 with an indicated yield of 8.2%.

Three new ETFs listed on the SGX in 3QFY2025: the Amova E Fund ChiNext Index ETF, the SPDR JPM Saudi Arabia Bond ETF and the LionGlobal Short Duration Bond.
