The move comes as part of AIA Singapore’s efforts to help customers play a more active role in managing their health in the long term, says HC Surgical in a press release on Monday.
By providing complimentary colonoscopy screening services on behalf of AIA Singapore, HC Surgical says it also aims to reduce the number of colorectal cancer cases with the expertise it possesses in the healthcare sector, as patients’ health has always been placed at the forefront of its agenda.
Citing a 2015 annual registry report from the Singapore Health Promotion Board’s (HPB) National Registry of Diseases Office, the company highlights colorectal cancer as one of the most common types of cancer among men, and the second-most common cancer among women in Singapore.
It adds that colorectal cancer is predominantly diagnosed in individuals aged 50 and above.
“It has been established that colorectal cancers may be prevented through colonoscopic excision of asymptomatic benign polyps, which prolongs life and lowers health costs. [We look] forward to providing this service at our endoscopy centres in central and heartlands of Singapore,” says Heah Sieu Min, CEO of HC Surgical.
As at 11.46am, shares in HC Surgical are up by 1.5 cent at 60 cents.
