TeleChoice International, majority held by an indirect subsidiary of Temasek, is in the running for a data centre project in Malaysia.
According to the company on March 27, together with "certain" consortium partners it did not name, has submitted a proposal to design and build data centre project in Malaysia and they have been shortlisted in a competitive tender process.
"The project represents a material opportunity for the group to participate in digital infrastructure developments in the region," says TeleChoice.
The company's main business thus far is in the logistics management of mobile devices on behalf of U Mobile, one of the key mobile operators in Malaysia, with a smaller proportion from IT and networking services as well.
"The proposal is currently being evaluated by the potential customer, as well as the relevant authorities and stakeholders," reads TeleChoice's announcement to the exchange, signed in the name of CEO Pauline Wong.
The company says if the bid is successful, it will then finalise the scope and terms of its participation, including capital commitments and financing arrangements.

TeleChoice says it will also carefully consider the associated risks and returns before entering into any binding agreements.
"While opportunities of this nature may present potential avenues for growth, they will also impact the group’s business mix and scale, as well as its overall risk profile," the company says.
TeleChoice International shares closed at 18 cents on March 27, up 2.34%.
