Fortune’s most powerful woman in Asia for 2025 is Tan Su Shan, group CEO, DBS Group Holdings. Tan became CEO of DBS in March this year. She was previously the Deputy CEO and Group Head of Institutional Banking, and before that, Group Head of Consumer Banking and Wealth Management for close to a decade. She was also the President Commissioner for PT Bank DBS Indonesia from 2014 to 2024.
Before joining DBS, Tan was Morgan Stanley’s Head of Private Wealth Management for Southeast Asia. She has also worked at Citibank and prior to that at ING Barings.
For the first half of this year, DBS’s total income and profit before tax rose 5% and 3% respectively to new highs of $11.6 billion and $6.83 billion. Net profit stood at $5.72 billion. Return on equity was 17.0%. Since the announcement of its results on Aug 7, DBS’s share price has risen by 24.7%, closing at an all-time high of $54.8 on Oct 7.
