Cisco has signed a Memorandum of Intent (MOI) with the Infocomm Media Development Authority of Singapore (IMDA) to build a testbed for 5G and associated enabling technologies.
The two parties will also collaborate to address cybersecurity challenges arising from 5G advancements by exchanging threat intelligence and industry knowledge.
“While 5G might empower new technological capabilities, it also expands the threat surface. We are excited to collaborate with IMDA to deepen our understanding of 5G and other emerging technologies, to ensure that Singapore’s infrastructure remains cyber resilient,” says Tay Bee Kheng, president of Cisco ASEAN
Cisco will provide IMDA with various technologies and architectures in its 5G testbed, including its hybrid 5G Core Network Architecture. This will enable IMDA to experiment and evaluate applications of such emerging technologies.
The partnership will also feature workshops and panel dialogues between IMDA and Cisco’s technology experts, with a focus on threat intelligence and the role of artificial intelligence in safeguarding 5G networks.
As part of its Country Digital Acceleration programme, Cisco will conduct training sessions to share insights on the latest trends and best practices in 5G and related technologies.
