LG Group is rolling out a new version of its flagship artificial intelligence (AI) model, billing it as South Korea’s first hybrid-reasoning AI system.
LG AI Research announced the release of the Exaone 4.0 on Tuesday. It combines a large-language model (LLM) with a reasoning AI engine capable of generating and testing hypotheses, according to a statement from LG Corp.
With Exaone 4.0, LG joins global tech firms like Anthropic and Alibaba Group Holding, which have introduced reasoning models such as Claude 3.7 and Qwen3, respectively. OpenAI chief executive officer Sam Altman said in April his company plans to release GPT-5 in a few months.
Founded in 2020, LG AI Research is focused on applying generative AI to real-world industrial use cases and released its first model, Exaone 1.0, in 2021. It plans to showcase the Exaone 4.0 in Seoul on July 22.
