Harilela Hotels has set its sights on Singapore as the third home for its hotel brand The Hari, following existing properties in London and Hong Kong.

The spring 2027 opening will see the Holiday Inn Singapore Orchard City Centre transformed into a 326-room hotel featuring a rooftop pool, executive lounge, dining and wellness experiences, and the brand’s “signature revolving rota of artwork”.

Holiday Inn Singapore Orchard City Centre first welcomed guests in 1985 and last renovated in 2009. The Hari Singapore is the latest hotel opening by Hong Kong-based Harilela Group since The Hari Hong Kong, which opened in late-2020.

“Our home on Cavenagh Road places us at the crossroads of Singapore’s past and present,” reads a description on The Hari Singapore’s social media channels. “Just steps away lies Emerald Hill, one of the city’s most treasured heritage enclaves, where beautifully preserved Peranakan shophouses tell stories of generations past. Beyond that stretches Orchard Road, a district that began as nutmeg and pepper plantations before evolving into Singapore's most iconic lifestyle destination.”

British designer Tara Bernerd, who worked on The Hari London and The Hari Hong Kong, will bring her signature approach to The Hari Singapore. Balancing contemporary elegance with a strong sense of place, the design creates layered interiors that feel both sophisticated and welcoming, reflecting the energy and cultural character of Singapore.

The Hari, London opened in August 2016, followed by The Hari Hong Kong in December 2020.

“This hotel, like our sister properties in Belgravia and Wan Chai, will embody relaxed elegance punctuated by eccentricity, wit, culture and genuine heartfelt hospitality,” says the brand’s founder Aron Harilela, chairman of Harilela Group and son of founder Hari Harilera. “Singapore is key to our ambition to evolve The Hari in major international destinations.”

Established in 1959, the Harilela Group currently owns and operates some 15 properties across Hong Kong, China, Southeast Asia, Europe and the US. The group is still wholly owned by the Harilela family, one of the richest Indian families in Hong Kong.

According to the group, its hospitality portfolio includes “alliances” with The Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG), Hyatt Hotels, Artyzen Hospitality Group and Onyx Hospitality Group.

Here in Singapore, the group owns the Holiday Inn Singapore Orchard City Centre, set to reopen as The Hari Singapore, as well as the Ambassador Transit Hotel at Changi Airport. Terminal 2.
