Co-working operator Arcc Spaces has announced the appointment of Singapore-based design firm The Afternaut Group for its newest location at Bank of Singapore Centre on 63 Market Street, set to open in July.

Arcc Spaces at Bank of Singapore Centre is the group’s fourth location here. Occupying three levels totalling approximately 25,782 sq ft, the space can accommodate more than 300 members and represents Arcc Spaces’ “most design-forward project to date”, according to a June 2 announcement.

The appointment marks the fifth collaboration between the two firms, including The Co. at Duxton and Arcc Spaces at One Marina Boulevard.

One Marina Boulevard was built for adaptability across diverse working styles, says Arcc Spaces, while the Bank of Singapore Centre takes a different position “centred on biophilia and the need for relief from screen-heavy, notification-dense workdays”.

The Afternaut Group’s response centres on “curated spatial possibilities” and the “celebration of craftsmanship and materiality”. This includes nature-inspired features and spaces that can cater to different working modes.

Arcc Spaces at Bank of Singapore Centre offers bespoke enterprise suites, secluded alcoves and business lounges designed for both focused work and natural gathering. The colour palette moves through deep oranges, warm terracottas and earthy ochres. Organic textures and biophilic elements are also layered throughout, with lush greenery set against views of the Marina Bay skyline.

Operational flexibility is embedded from the outset, says Arcc Spaces. Phone booths convert to multi-use spaces, adjacent suites can be amalgamated for larger teams and conference spaces are designed to transition into communal areas outside of business hours.

These features keep the space commercially responsive without requiring disruptive fit-out changes, adds the co-working operator.

“Our work with The Afternaut Group has always been a genuine co-authorship and each project has evolved alongside how work itself has changed,” says Justin Chen, CEO of Arcc Spaces. “In an age defined by AI and digital saturation, and coming out of years of remote work, people are seeking something different from their offices: real connection, presence and a reason to commute. The Bank of Singapore Centre is designed precisely around that need.”

Founded in 2017, The Afternaut Group has delivered projects across Singapore and China for a range of private and public sector clients, including CapitaLand, Sembcorp, OCBC Bank, Singtel, Tencent, Keppel Land, Frasers and JTC Corporation, among others.

Gwen Tan, design principal of The Afternaut Group, says her team designed “inward” for the Bank of Singapore Centre space. “Spaces that slow you down, draw you into the materiality, and make the experience in an office well-elevated — this is the type of exploration we find most meaningful.”

Memberships and tenancies are open for enquiry ahead of the centre’s July opening.

Arcc Spaces opened its 19,000 sq ft One Marina Boulevard location in 2020, its 18,000 sq ft 75 High Street location in 2013 and two floors of an amalgamated shophouse at 99 Duxton Road in 2016.

Outside of Singapore, Arcc Spaces operates three locations in Kuala Lumpur and one each in Shanghai and Hong Kong.

Arcc Spaces is a subsidiary of Arcc Holdings, which is led by Chen’s father, Tony Chen.
