SINGAPORE (Oct 16): The Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) today announced that it has imposed a $500,000 financial penalty on SingNet, a subsidiary internet service provider of SingTel, for a fibre broadband service disruption that occurred on Dec 3, 2016.

The disruption caused SingNet to be in contravention of the Code of Practice for Telecommunication Service Resiliency 2016.

About 90% of SingNet’s fibre broadband subscribers were affected during the disruption which lasted nearly 24 hours. During the incident, affected subscriber’s access to internet services were progressively restored.
