No trip to the Maldives is complete without three things: sunny beach days, amazing seafood and, of course, luxury accommodations. Nestled in Baa Atoll, Anantara Kihavah’s newly refurbished Over Water Pool Villas promise an opulent private living experience for your next holiday.

Long renowned as an icon of the Maldives, the villas have been given a fresh look and updated amenities with a multimillion-dollar upgrade. A clean, sleek aesthetic now runs through the resort, merging local tradition with contemporary sensibilities; accent pieces from the nearby Thuladoo island offset the fresh white and turquoise tones in each room.

“Our iconic Over Water Pool Villas have been refreshed to elevate the overall guest experience, transforming them into elegant spaces of sophistication, while remaining faithful to the Maldivian heritage and the beauty of the natural surroundings,” says Anantara Kihavah general manager Sjefke Jansen.

The furniture, fittings and materials used in the villas, Anantara Kihavah adds, were “chosen to reflect the aesthetic and sustainable qualities of the indigenous culture”.

But traditional vibes certainly don’t mean simple or old-fashioned. Quite the opposite – there’s a distinct emphasis on modern architecture and 21st-century comforts. Smart technology has been incorporated into the villas, so even the most stubborn city-dweller can feel at home, all while miles away from the nearest skyscraper.

Meanwhile, glass-bottomed bathtubs give one a direct view into the water; a sunken private lounge at the extended decks and over-the-water hammocks give holidayers even more opportunities to luxuriate in the pristine surroundings. From the sundeck, one can directly access the lagoon, or head over to one of the infinity pools.

For those seeking a trip for the whole family, Anantara Kihavah has launched the One Bedroom Family Over Water Pool Villa. “These selected units will offer dedicated sleeping quarters for children, ensuring a comfortable stay for small families,” says Jansen.

A stay at the Anantara Kihavah Over Water Pool Villas starts from US$1,733 per night for two persons.
