Drive For Good 2025 uplifts Singapore’s youth through the medium of sim-racing and motorsports
More than just a competition, Drive For Good 2025 recently transformed the idyllic “The Initial Sama” at 26 Evans Road into a vibrant hub of connection, laughter, shared growth and racing.
Global Switch and Legion of Racers (LOR) united to create a safe space for approximately 50 young people from the Muslimin Trust Fund Association (MTFA) and SHINE Children and Youth Services (SHINE).
This initiative transcends standard corporate social responsibility to focus on deep community building by providing youths who benefit most from support with a platform to be seen, heard, and celebrated.
The event was designed to break down barriers and build bridges between youths of different backgrounds, with speed being the common denominator.
Central to the experience was an immersive SIM Racing workshop using LOR’s professional rigs. While the activity was high-tech, the goal was deeply human, with the racing simulators serving to teach vital life skills to help strengthen community resilience.
As any professional racer knows, sim-racing is no child’s play. Apart from the hard skills it nurtures – muscle memory and track familiarisation for instance – it also helps develop the softer elements of character-building, such as camaraderie, discipline and focus, as well as emotional development.
“It was truly inspiring to see the children so engaged and immersed in the activities. It reminded us why we partnered with Global Switch on Drive For Good in the first place,” said Lim Keong Wee (pictured above), co-founder of the Legion of Racers.
"Drive For Good is about more than just racing – it is about giving these young people a chance to bolster focus, form lasting friendships, and learn the value of healthy competition."
The success of Drive For Good 2025 highlights the necessity of corporate collaboration in building a supportive society.
Global Switch, a leader in data centre solutions, emphasised that its commitment to the region goes far beyond infrastructure – it is rooted in people.
“At Global Switch, we believe our strength is built on people – both within our organisation and across the communities we serve,” said Terence Teo, Managing Director, Global Switch Singapore.
“Drive For Good reflects our continued commitment to supporting personal development and creating opportunities for young people. We are proud to work alongside Legion of Racers, SHINE, and MTFA to deliver such a positive and inspiring programme."
Muzdalifah Anuar (pictured above extreme left), manager at the Darul Ihsan Girls’ Orphanage Home (MTFA), noted: “We are grateful to Global Switch and Legion of Racers for providing our beneficiaries with such a positive and empowering experience. The activities gave them confidence, encouraged teamwork, and created lasting memories.”
This sentiment was echoed by Ms Sasha Ho, assistant senior social worker at SHINE Children and Youth Services, who emphasised the long-term value of such community investments. "Events like Drive For Good are a reminder that, together, we can open doors for future generations one step at a time."
