Wearnes Automotive previews the Zenvo Aurora in Singapore, which is created to be a hypercar for the driver
Regardless of the approach a brand adopts in the super-sportscar segment – be it emotional, empirical or even an evocative fusion of the two – some might say its provenance is best served when it is directed by a strong vision.
Some of you might not have heard of Zenvo, but we should qualify that it is now in its “Zenvo 2.0” iteration, as Jens Sverdrup (pictured below), chairman of the board and chief commercial officer at Zenvo Automotive A/s, refers to it as he leads the brand into a new era. “It is like a restart and a rebrand with a new team and all-new management,” Sverdrup tells us.
In case you’re wondering, “Who?” Sverdrup’s CV reads like a petrolhead’s Top Trumps hit-list, with past stints in Koenigsegg, Rimac, Czinger, BAC and even technical specialist in blue-chip Ferraris, GTO Engineering.
Sverdrup was in Singapore for the local preview of the Aurora hypercar, the brand’s stunning technological tour de force that will be hand-assembled in Denmark.

The Aurora is animated by a 6.6-litre quad-turbocharged V12, which is targeted to produce 1250hp and boast a 9800rpm redline, while mated to a lightweight triple electric motor system that should see its total power output bumped to 1850hp.
Wait, what, a high-revving V12 in this day and age? In the realm of hypercars, there are few things as soul-stirring to a petrolhead as a hearty V12, but as with all things emotional like art, music and exotic cars, everything is open to individual appreciation.

Some brands focus on balance and performance (the empirical), while others focus on the emotional – of course, the best solution is a combination of the two, which in the case of the Aurora, is a hybridised V12. Personally, this writer appreciates the dramatic and the theatrical, because beyond the performance, this separates super-sportscars from go-faster contenders from lesser brands.
However, Sverdrup explains that Zenvo didn’t arrive at a V12 for the Aurora due to his personal preferences. “I love the V12, but creating it was not only due to my own dream,” he tells us. “It was grounded in customer feedback. At Zenvo, we don't innovate for the sake of it, but we innovate to make the product better for the customers.”
The Aurora preview is held in Wearnes Automotive’s inner sanctum, the climate-controlled 8th floor bonded facility where the very special cars that belong to the dealer’s very special customers are housed.
“Wearnes Automotive is very good at looking after its clients, and it also offers logistics and storage solutions. Ultimately, it is all about what is best for the customers,” says Sverdrup on why the multi-franchise AD was chosen as Zenvo Automotive’s representative.

Sebastian Tan (pictured above extreme right), general manager at Wearnes Automotive, adds, “For 120 years, Wearnes Automotive has represented premium and luxury automotive marques in Singapore and across Asia. We are proud to support Zenvo Automotive as Aurora is introduced to Singapore.”
The Aurora isn’t just your garden-variety hypercar with big, headline figures, but rather is the result of what happens when Zenvo tries to achieve an equilibrium of extremes. Sverdrup explains, “Normally a car manufacturer will start with a benchmark in mind, but the problem is you will never overshoot the targets – in fact you will probably not hit the targets.”
From the Mahle Powertrain hybridised V12 to the speakers, there is a lot of bespoke tech in the car. However, Sverdrup is adamant the Aurora hasn’t been compromised as a driver’s car to sell technology. “We're first and foremost a car brand, but with technology spin-offs. The car won’t become a demonstrator to sell technology. In fact, this is the opposite, although we still want to capitalise on our IP and our patents,” he tells us.
He adds, “For the Aurora, we wanted to see how far we could stretch this rubber band of performance without compromising the car in terms of drivability and throttle response, as well as all the other qualities that make a car fun to drive. This is where the magic is for me, and the numbers, however impressive they may be – because they will be very impressive – are just a side effect of great engineering. Philosophically, Zenvo Automotive is probably closer to Gordon Murray than anything else, in that the Aurora is a driver's car at heart.”
