Commissioned by Porsche, “Spirit of Legends” drops during the Singapore Art Week 2026 and leads the charge into the Year of the Horse

In some circles, the technical nuances of high performance racing machines are as esoteric and incomprehensible to non-enthusiasts as the subtleties between all the different genres of art.

Singaporean artist Priscilla Tey’s (pictured above) ‘Spirit of Legends’ mural art and the strapping example of fearsome motorsports art (in this case, a 1980s Rothmans-liveried race-car that is sculpted by the science of speed) are two performance pieces that need to be experienced with both heart and soul in-the-flesh in all their emotional and evocative glory.

Both the motorsports mural and the motorsport monster, the 956, will be on public display throughout the festive season until 31 March 2025 at the Porsche at Jewel store. The historic motorsport icon is the actual race-car that comes to us on loan from the Porsche Museum.

Images, videos and spec sheets do very little justice to their magnificence, especially once you bask in the gritty glory of the Porsche 956 Group C sports-prototype race car’s winning presence, and it is only as you get up close and personal with this masterpiece that the heart will know what it will like.

But wait, isn’t the horse a motif of a certain Italian sportscar brand? Not only, because if you’ve properly scrutinised the Porsche emblem, you’ll notice that a prancing horse takes centrestage – a nod to the brand’s home-city of Stuttgart – and it is these noble steeds that have taken centrestage in Tey’s Spirit of Legends.

“The horse not only reflects the graceful performance and agility of our sports cars, it also marks the centre of the iconic Porsche crest – a tribute to the city of Stuttgart, our spiritual home, whose name was once derived from a small ducal stud farm, ‘Stuotgarten’. Priscilla’s work beautifully embodies this symbiosis of performance and heritage, just in time for the Lunar New Year of the Horse coinciding with the 75th anniversary of Porsche Motorsport,” said Mr. Yannick Ott, Director Marketing Porsche Asia Pacific.

“Throughout our history, creativity has been the spark driving the Porsche brand forward and we are therefore delighted to continue our long-standing engagement around Singapore Art Week and collaborate with such gifted talent like Priscilla Tey,” Ott continued.

Just like the 956’s turbocharged performance – which culminated in four consecutive victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans – the Spirit of Legends is an explosive masterpiece of creativity that captures Porsche’s racing spirit and celebrates the German brand’s 75th year in Motorsport in 2026.

The eagle-eyed would even have noticed that Tey has woven-in elements of the 956 race car’s functional elements into her mural, which wears the same Rothmans blue, white, red and gold colours as the racing prototype.

As part of this collaboration, Porsche will release a set of T-shirts, thermal flasks and keychains inspired by Priscilla Tey’s work. A set of limited-edition red packets designed by Tey will also be available.

“It’s been meaningful to create a work that connects Porsche’s illustrious racing heritage with the festive spirit of the season, said Ms. Priscilla Tey on the art piece. “I wanted the mural to feel joyful, a little magical, and unique – and I hope viewers can discover new details each time they look.”
