One of the world’s leading manufacturers of luxury architectural surfaces, Spanish brand Consentino — featured in the interiors and facades of some of the most iconic buildings such as the Alhambra of Granada and ToHA tower in Tel Aviv — is most known for its strong commitment to sustainability. It has won over many architects and designers worldwide who chose the high-performance surface for facades, countertops, floors, cabinetry and claddings.

Consentino’s highly-saleable product category Dekton is certified carbon neutral from the cradle to the grave and represents an innovative generation of advanced sustainable surfaces composed of a hybrid formulation of premium minerals, quartz and recycled materials. By offsetting 100% of carbon dioxide emissions over its entire product life cycle, Dekton helps to reduce environmental impact.

Unveiled at Salone del Mobile and Milan Design Week this year, Cosentino launched two new Dekton collections, which feature carbon-neutral ultracompact surfaces made from sustainably-sourced minerals using a Sinterised Particle Technology (TSP). Superior technical properties, such as resistance to UV rays, scratches, stains and thermal shock, and very low water absorption, make Dekton the perfect surface for various applications indoors and outdoors.

Onirika is a stunning series of eight bold yet elegant colourways inspired by marble patterns — designed by award-winning interior designer Nina Magon — combining stone's unique beauty with Dekton’s unmatched technology.

Kraftizen pays homage to the Italian master artisans who perfected the Venetian stucco over centuries, reinterpreting their works into five versatile colours using the latest digital craft technology.

Modular stove units for the smart cook

German appliance brand Miele have remained the benchmark for premium domestic and commercial appliances for 123 years and continue to abide by the philosophy, immer besser (forever better) to achieve better quality, performance, craftsmanship, design, sustainability and convenience in entire generations of products.

For the avid home cook, the new SmartLine units offer modular stove top applications that are elegant, versatile and multi-faceted. Customers can choose freely from an induction hob, Tepan Yaki, induction wok or countertop extractor. They form a cooking centre with a puristic appeal as an ensemble that breaks down the boundaries between kitchen and living space.

All SmartLine modules have a depth of 52 cm; their frameless glass ceramic screen permits flush or surface-mounted installation. The touch controls (SmartSelect) only become visible on the black ceramic screen when the appliance is in operation. As on all SmartLine modules, Miele deploys its SmartSelect controls. Power can be selected individually for each ring via a string of numbers. Various convenience and safety features round off the range, including Stop & Go, a warmer function, a setting allowing the screen to be cleaned without changing settings, a minute minder, an automatic switch-off, a system lock and fault monitoring.

A handy appliance is the countertop extractor which does away with the need for a conventional cooker hood. It is a downdraught unit which draws in steam and vapours and absorbs fat molecules in a 10-ply stainless-steel grease filter. In recirculation mode, a reactivatable active charcoal filter binds odours in a special recirculation box. Alternatively, in vented mode, steam and vapours are transported out of the building via vent ducting. With a countertop extractor, one can add on the Tepan Yaki plate or induction wok — the second classic Asian appliance in the SmartLine series.
