Energise yourself with these luxurious menus

There’s nothing quite like a great lunch to break up the day — whether it’s a quick meal or a leisurely experience. Not only does it renew your energy levels, but it also gives you a chance to unwind, leaving you refreshed and ready to take on the rest of the day. Here are two options for a delicious and invigorating midday meal.

Wakuda

Wakuda Singapore at Marina Bay Sands is presenting a weekend brunch experience that combines traditional Japanese flavours with contemporary culinary artistry. Helmed by chef Tetsuya Wakuda, this restaurant offers a menu designed to elevate weekend dining to a whole new level.

With its sleek interiors, warm lighting and a blend of modern with traditional Japanese aesthetics, Wakuda’s ambiance transports diners into a world of refined elegance. The sophisticated yet welcoming atmosphere makes it a perfect spot for a leisurely weekend brunch.

The new weekend brunch menu celebrates Japan’s rich culinary heritage, incorporating seasonal ingredients sourced from across the globe. Guests can look forward to a curated selection of dishes highlighting the chef’s innovative approach to Japanese cuisine.

For just $88++ from 11.30am to 4.00pm every weekend, the three-course menu includes starters such as the Wakuda flan, a savoury egg custard with grilled white corn. There’s also a live sushi station offering a seasonal selection of sushi.

Signature main course options include grilled Ora King salmon, miso cod and wagyu tenderloin. For dessert, Wakuda’s in-house pastry chef prepares a special sweet treat; we’re served a burnt cheesecake with a side of matcha ice cream.

No luxury brunch is complete without a beverage pairing. At Wakuda, an extensive selection of cocktails, sake and wine is available from $48++ to complement the food. Cocktails here feature Japanese spirits and botanicals, and there are even “guilt-free” non-alcoholic and low-ABV options.

Araya, the world’s only Michelin-starred Chilean restaurant, has released some new menus for those who’d like to enjoy the luxury of a renowned restaurant but struggle to find the time for a whole tasting menu.

Husband-and-wife duo chefs Francisco Araya and Fernanda Guerrero have launched Menu Rápido ($80++), an efficient three-course lunch experience, and Taste of Araya ($168++), a five-course journey that encapsulates the restaurant’s signature flavours.

These are available for lunch from Wednesdays to Saturdays, and Taste of Araya is also available for dinner from Tuesdays to Saturdays.

We tried Taste of Araya, and what followed was a symphony of flavours that celebrated both Chilean heritage and Japanese precision — a reflection of chef Araya’s experience working in Japan for many years.

The menu starts off with ama ebi (sweet shrimp) with tomato meringue, and chicha de uva, a delicate yet punchy snack that sets the tone for the rest to come. Next is La Panera, a bread service served with cochayuyo spread (a Chilean seaweed) and a Merken butter, infused with smoky Mapuche spices.

The first highlight of the meal is the ceviche. Featuring Hokkaido scallops, botan ebi and tiger’s milk sorbet, the dish is a playful yet sophisticated reimagination of the classic Peruvian staple.

Picanha

For mains, we savour picanha — a beef cut with a slightly chewy texture — with chimichurri on the side. The experience concludes with Antarctica, a whimsical dessert inspired by the icy continent, featuring Patagonia berries, goat’s milk ice cream and dulce de leche.

In addition to Menu Rápido and Taste of Araya, diners can also choose from Araya’s signature tasting menus — the Andes menu ($298++) and the Costa menu ($368++) — for a more comprehensive exploration of the restaurant’s artistry.
