SINGAPORE (Sept 18): OCBC Bank customers will soon be able to instantly set up GIRO facilities via third-party websites or apps to pay for their telecommunications and utilities bills, their insurance premiums, and even their taxes.

The bank today launched a transactional API – tools and protocols used to build software applications and specify how these applications interact with each other – that allows a GIRO facility to be set up instantly.

The API eradicates the lengthy waiting times for GIRO applications.
