The Energy Market Authority (EMA) has issued a second request for proposals (RFP) to import up to four gigawatts (GW) of electricity by 2035 in a bid to decarbonise the energy sector.
EMA is a statutory board under the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI).
It had issued the first RFP in November 2021 to import around 1.2 GW of electricity from 2027 onwards.
Under the second RFP, participants may submit non-binding proposals as an expression of interest for preliminary discussions with EMA. The deadline for submissions will end at 3pm on Dec 29, 2023.
EMA may also award conditional approvals to “viable and attractive” proposals at any time during the process.
At the same time, EMA has received requests from participants under the first RFP for more time to develop their proposals. As such, the statutory board will be combining both RFPs.
