The 21st edition of the Singapore JPMorganChase Corporate Challenge was on the evening of April 16 with close to 13,500 participants from 438 companies.
The 5.6km event was launched in Singapore in 2004, and attracted 6,800 runners, joggers and walkers from across industries and sectors. This year, the 10 companies with the most participants who joined the 1,600 JPMorganChase employees were SAP, Jacobs International Consultants, Visa, United Microelectronics, DSM-Firmenich, BNP Paribas, Chevron, Amazon, BlackRock and GIC.
The race was flagged off at the F1 Pit Building in the Marina Bay Area by JPMorganChase senior executives including Hong Wai Mei, Singapore Senior Country Officer and Ong Wei Han, Asia-Pacific Chief Administrative Officer.
The JPMorganChase Corporate Challenge is held in 16 locations across eight countries and six continents, with Singapore being the second stop of the global series. Sydney’s event will follow in October, with events in Hong Kong and Shanghai being held in November. Part run, part party, the event brings companies together to connect, move as a team and celebrate as one community. In Singapore, the event has grown to become a key social event in the city-state’s business calendar.
Launched in New York City’s Central Park with 200 participants, the Corporate Challenge is now celebrating 50 years in operation and has grown into the world’s largest corporate running series with more than 230,000 people taking part annually across countries and continents.
Keeping with tradition, JPMorganChase will make a donation on behalf of all participants to non-profit organization HWA, formerly known as Handicaps Welfare Association. Through its work, HWA helps to enhance the quality of life for the elderly and persons with disabilities, by providing services such as wheel-chair-accessible transportation, rehabilitation, home care and social services. Thirty-three of the organization’s representatives and beneficiaries, and their caregivers, successfully completed a shortened race route.
