Metro Holdings has appointed Erwin Wuysang-Oei as chief executive officer of Metro (Private) Limited with effect from Oct 1 as part of its senior management succession plan.

Wuysang-Oei will oversee the strategic direction and overall management of Metro’s retail division, according to the release. He was previously the chief operating office of the company, a role that he assumed in November 2023.

Metro says that Wuysang-Oei has been instrumental in driving the company’s omnichannel transformation to enhance the group’s market competitiveness, operational efficiency and customer engagement.

“Retail has long been a key business segment for Metro, and we remain committed to enhancing and innovating the business amid a rapidly changing retail environment. Erwin’s experience and track record will contribute to building resilience in Metro’s retail division,” says Yip Hoong Mun, group CEO of Metro Holdings.

Shares in Metro Holdings closed flat at 52 cents on Sept 30.
