Jardine Cycle & Carriage has appointed Samuel Tsien as its independent chairman of the board. His appointment will take effect on Nov 11.

Tsien is best known as being Oversea-Chinese Banking Corporation’s (OCBC) group CEO. He held that position from 2012 to 2021. From 2021 to 2022, Tsien was adviser to OCBC’s board.

Tsien is currently a non-executive independent director of Jardine Cycle & Carriage. He was first appointed to the board on Oct 1, 2021.

Tsien will replace outgoing chairman John Witt, who will retire on Nov 11. Witt will also cease to be a member of the nominating committee and the remuneration committee on the same date. Witt was appointed chairman on Aug 2, 2024.

Shares in Jardine Cycle & Carriage closed 24 cents higher or 0.84% up at $28.74 on Oct 15.
