The Jardines group is reportedly in talks to acquire the supermarket business of fellow Hong Kong conglomerate CK Hitchison, controlled by Li Ka-Shing.

According to the Financial Times, citing four people familiar with the matter, talks have been going on for some time but a deal "is not imminent".

Jardine, via its Singapore-listed subsidiary DFI Retail Group, runs a supermarket business in Hong Kong under the brand Wellcome.

CK Hutchison, meanwhile, via AS Watson, runs ParknShop.
