According to EMA, the centre will work with “all countries in Southeast Asia and beyond” to enhance energy security and accelerate clean energy transitions.
Singapore’s energy market regulator adds that the centre will provide policy guidance, technical assistance and training and capacity-building. The centre will also focus on scaling the deployment of renewables and other clean energy technologies, promoting cross-border power trade and improving access to finance for clean energy investment.
Singapore joined the IEA as an association country in 2016. Since then, the Singapore-IEA Regional Training Hub has jointly trained more than 1,500 participants from over 35 countries through eight editions of its associated programme.
