Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has taken the Covid-19 vaccine on the morning of Jan 8, according to The Straits Times.

Lee was at the Singapore General Hospital (SGH) to witness the start of a nationwide drive to vaccinate healthcare staff.

Speaking to reporters after the 30-minute observation after receiving the jab, the prime minister called the procedure “painless”, “effective” and “important”.

He added in Mandarin that the needle was “very fine” and that it could hardly be felt.

Lee also urged Singaporeans to get the vaccine when it is made available to them, as it will “make us safer”.

Lee said last month that he and his colleagues in the Cabinet would be getting vaccinated early to show that the vaccine was safe.
