SINGAPORE (Dec 27): Yongnam Holdings has secured contracts totalling to $73.4 million in value, including several specialist civil engineering contracts to supply steel struts and strutting components for Temporary Earth Retaining Systems used in infrastructural developments in Melbourne, Australia.

This marks the group’s foray into the Australian market, with the signing of the last Melbourne-based contract worth S$47 million and expected to be completed in Jan 2019.

The remaining contracts are based in Singapore, and are awarded by repeat customers China Construction (South Pacific) Development and PBT Engineering.

Their respective contracts will have Yongnam will supply, fabricate, deliver and erect structural steelwork for an integrated community & sports facility in Sembawang, as well as for the launching of 14 sets of fixed gangways at Changi Airport Terminal One – to be completed by 1Q20 and 2021, respectively

“Yongnam is delighted to have made inroads into the Australian market with supply contracts for landmark infrastructure projects in Melbourne. This is testament to our specialist structural civil engineering expertise in the development of a modular system of steel strutting components to accommodate various project conditions underground,” says Seow Soon Yong, CEO of Yongnam.

The group expects the contracts it secured in both Australia and Singapore to have a positive impact on its current financial year ending Dec 2018.

Shares in Yongnam closed 0.6% higher at 17 cents on Wednesday.
