QAF Limited’s (SGX:Q01) subsidiary, Gardenia Foods, announced that it is shifting its bakery production from Singapore to Johor Bahru, Malaysia.

As a result of the shift, 141 employees at the current manufacturing facility in Pandan Loop will be retrenched.

The group explains that this move is part of Gardenia’s ongoing efforts to enhance operational efficiency and maintain competitiveness amid an increasingly challenging global environment.

QAF adds that the Pandan Loop manufacturing facility will cease operation on June 30.

Meanwhile, the group is considering eligible employees for suitable roles within the group’s network of operations where possible.

Following the transition, the Singapore’s operation will have around 250 employees and will remain as Gardenia’s central hub for key functions such as brand management, innovation, product development, quality and regulatory oversight, customer and stakeholder engagement, daily distribution and supply chain operations.
