Deal-making activity of Singapore companies surge to $44.7 bil in 3Q

SINGAPORE (Sept 14): Mergers and acquisitions (M&A) involving Singapore companies hit US$33.1 billion ($44.7 billion) in the third quarter.

This was an 81.4% jump from the second quarter, despite a 33.9% drop in the number of deals announced, according to Thomson Reuters data released on Thursday.

For the first nine months of 2017, M&A activity involving Singapore companies reached US$62.5 billion, 31.7% higher compared to the first nine months of 2016, even though the number of deals declined 8.2%.
