ST Engineering has launched a new Cybersecurity Centre of Excellence (CoE) to advance the development of agentic AI-driven cybersecurity systems capable of identifying, analysing and responding to threats with minimal human intervention.
Those autonomous solutions promise broader coverage, greater precision and faster decision-making as compared to the capabilities of traditional security operations centres (SOC).
The CoE will start with 26 specialists and scale up to 81, focusing on cyber defence across enterprise IT systems, 5G networks, operational technology, and the Internet of Things.
Beyond R&D, the centre will serve as a training ground for Singapore’s next generation of cybersecurity professionals. In collaboration with institutes of higher learning, including Republic Polytechnic and Singapore Polytechnic, ST Engineering will train and upskill students in agentic AI solutions developed at the CoE. This will prepare them to thrive in AI-assisted cybersecurity environments and harness agentic AI alongside other advanced technologies.
“The Cybersecurity CoE will bring together talent, research and advanced AI to strengthen our capabilities to develop cyber defences that are smarter, faster and more adaptive to new threats. Our Agentic AI SOC solution has already redefined new standards in detection and response, mitigating threats in seconds to swiftly protect critical systems,” says Goh Eng Choon, president of Cyber at ST Engineering.
Philbert Gomez, executive director and head of Digital Industry Singapore (DISG), adds: “The CoE will be a vital hub for developing autonomous AI solutions that will directly empower cybersecurity practitioners and enhance our capability to detect and combat sophisticated cyber threats at scale. This partnership reinforces Singapore’s resolve to be a globally leading AI hub.”
