Savills Singapore is launching the 239-unit Jesselton Courtyard at Jesselton Selatan, Penang, to Singapore-based buyers this weekend.

Developed by Malaysia’s Berjaya Land Development, Jesselton Courtyard is located at the base of Penang Hill, set within the neighbourhoods of Jesselton and Pulau Tikus.

Situated some 12 minutes west of George Town and adjacent to landmarks like the Penang Turf Club and Kensington Gardens, the freehold development offers a rare combination of luxury, exclusivity, scale and centrality in George Town, says Savills Singapore in a Jan 14 announcement.

Berjaya Land Development sold 45% of units in Jesselton Courtyard in a pre-launch in July 2024. Berjaya Land Development is wholly owned by Berjaya Hartanah Bhd, which is a subsidiary of Malaysia-listed Berjaya Land Bhd.

Spanning 11.908 acres of prime freehold land, Jesselton Courtyard’s 239 units include 32 Courtyard Homes (four-storey zero-lot bungalows) and 207 Courtyard Villas (1.5 and two-storey condominiums).

The developer announced in July 2024 that Courtyard Homes have a built-up size from 6,649 sq ft with selling price starting from RM6.47 million, while Courtyard Villas are sized from 2,734 sq ft with a starting price of RM2.87 million.

With building heights capped at a maximum of five levels, each residence in the gated and guarded development offers a mix of landed-home convenience and condominium living, including doorstep parking and layouts designed to support multi-generational living, says Savills Singapore.

Each residence will be provided four to six car park lots, above typical Penang condominium offerings. All units also feature a dual-key configuration, offering flexibility for extended families, home offices or independent living arrangements.

Lifestyle facilities include landscaped communal spaces, fitness and wellness zones, swimming pools, function halls and family-oriented amenities.

“Jesselton offers Singapore buyers a rare opportunity to acquire a landed or landed-style home in one of Penang’s most tightly held residential addresses, where developments of this scale and density are increasingly hard to come by,” says Ruben Koh, senior director, international residential sales, Savills Singapore.

Penang continues to appeal to Singapore buyers for its relative value, lifestyle offering and long-term liveability, adds Koh. “Jesselton Courtyard stands out as a freehold option for buyers who view Penang not just as a lifestyle destination, but as a sustainable long-term investment or legacy asset.”

Savills Singapore’s Jesselton Courtyard launch event will be held over two days on Jan 17 and 18, from 11am to 6pm, at Voco Orchard Hotel, Singapore room.
