Following Seoul and Bangkok, the third Capella Residences globally will debut in Brisbane in 2029. A joint development by Capella Hotel Group and Verso Projects, the Capella Residences Brisbane will see the restoration and transformation of the Shafston House estate into an exclusive riverfront address.
Set along the Brisbane River at Kangaroo Point, Capella Residences Brisbane will comprise about 50 ultra-prime branded homes, starting at A$8 million ($7.2 million) for a three-bedroom apartment, according to Verso Development Group chief executive Steve Laffey.
Additionally, two River Homes will be constructed along the embankment, complemented by a private marina, porte cochère with drop-off and pick-up facilities, and private basement garage parking. The development also promises expansive gardens and six pools — three of which will be for all residents.
The Australian Financial Review reports that the upcoming development is designed by Perth- and Singapore-based Kerry Hill Architects. According to AFR, UK-based design studio 1508 London, which did The OWO Residences by Accor’s Raffles Hotels & Resorts brand, will handle the interiors; while landscaping will be carried out by PWP, the firm behind Jewel Changi Airport.
Located in Queensland, Australia, Shafston House is a heritage-listed group of buildings constructed between 1851 and the 1930s.

Brisbane-based developer Verso Projects currently holds a A$8.5 billion portfolio with over 6,000 dwellings in their pipeline, and a diverse asset class spanning apartments, townhouses, retail and commercial.
In the lead-up to the 2032 Olympic Games, Brisbane has emerged as one of Australia’s “most compelling luxury markets”, according to a July 3 press release by Capella.
Roland Fasel, president of Capella Hotel Group, says Brisbane is a city “on the cusp of something remarkable”. “Capella Residences is our commitment to being part of that story. The Capella residential experience is more than luxury — it is about a sense of belonging to a place with deep meaning. Verso Projects is the ideal partner to bring this vision to life, and together we look forward to introducing our brand of bespoke, culture-led living to the Australian market for the first time.”
