Low Keng Huat (Singapore) Limited has developed alongside the nation, giving people visible symbols of Singapore’s progress through the decades.
Low Keng Huat (Singapore) Limited (“LKHS”) was established by Tan Sri Dato Low Keng Huat and his three brothers in 1969 with an initial capital outlay of S$150,000. What started as a general building construction company has since morphed into a diversified group with 24 subsidiaries and 9 associated and joint venture companies involved in three core activities – construction, property development, and property investment.
NATION-BUILDING LANDMARKS
Since its inception, LKHS has contributed significantly to the changing skyline of Singapore.
People’s Park Complex
In 1973, LKHS completed its first major residential and commercial construction project, People’s Park Complex. A high-rise mixed-use building consisting of a 25-storey residential block above a 6-storey podium of shops and offices, People’s Park Complex was the largest - and first - shopping complex in Singapore with an atrium at the time. Today the complex, located in the heart of Chinatown, is recognised as a landmark of urban renewal and nation-building in Singapore.
Three years later LKHS completed the iconic 52-storey skyscraper, OCBC Centre, which was then the tallest building in Singapore and in Southeast Asia. Designed by the renowned I.M. Pei, it was the first building that involved international architects. Completed in less than 2 years, the project was also a preeminent example of the use of innovative construction technology.
By the time LKHS was listed on the Mainboard of the Singapore Exchange in 1992, it had completed the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS)’s headquarters in Shenton Way and Mandarin Gardens, Singapore’s first mega-sized condominium with over 1,000 dwelling units.
Continuing on its momentum, LKHS completed Singapore’s largest cargo distribution complex, Keppel Distripark, in 1994. At that time, the Distripark was a key component of Singapore’s port infrastructure and it was instrumental in Singapore’s development as a global port city.
Concurrently, extensive construction and restoration works were undergoing at a historic building complex in the heart of Singapore’s Civic and Cultural District – CHIJMES. At the end of almost five and a half years, what was once a Catholic convent had been transformed into a major commercial complex.
CHIJMES
For its efforts, the project was awarded the 1997 Architectural Heritage Award in recognition of well restored gazetted national monuments and conserved buildings in Singapore. LKHS was also recognised when CHIJMES was honoured with a Merit Award at the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Heritage Awards for Cultural Heritage Conservation in 2002.
In 2010, LKHS achieved another significant milestone when it completed Hard Rock Hotel and Convention Centre. Located at Singapore’s first integrated resort in Sentosa, the development was known for its large column-free ballroom, which was Asia’s largest then.
IN THE HEART OF THE COMMUNITY
Meanwhile in the heartlands, LKHS is responsible for constructing NEX, the biggest mall in the North-East region of Singapore. Completed in 2010, the mall is strategically located and fully integrated with Serangoon Bus Interchange and Serangoon MRT Station. The popular 7-storey mall was awarded the Building & Construction Authority (BCA) Green Mark in 2018.
Paya Lebar Square
In 2014, LKHS completed its first major office-retail development, Paya Lebar Square, which has since become a key investment property for the company. The 13-storey mixed development commercial building was designed to qualify for the BCA Green Mark GoldPlus certification.
Citadines Balestier
In the neighbourhoods of Novena and Rochor, LKHS owns serviced apartments Citadines Balestier and Lyf @ Farrer, respectively. Both are operated and managed by The Ascott Group.

LKHS has also leveraged its expertise and experience in property development and construction with residential development projects scattered around Singapore.
One such project - Duchess Residences - won several accolades including the FIABCI Singapore Property Awards 2011, MIPIM Asia Awards 2012 for Best Residential Development (Silver), International Property Awards 2013-2014 for Best Landscape Architecture in Singapore, and Singapore Landscape Architecture Awards 2015 (Silver).
Another award-winning condominium under the belt of LKHS is the 1,145 unit condominium, The Minton. It was awarded two accolades: Landscape Industry Association Singapore (LIAS) Awards of Excellence 2015 (Gold) and BCA Construction Excellence Awards 2015 (Merit).
In more recent times, LKHS made its first foray into the ultra-luxury condominium development market with Klimt Cairnhill, an architectural landmark with its brilliant curvilinear uniquely gold facade amidst Orchard Road’s skyline.
A single 36-storey tower with 138 units in Singapore’s prestigious District 9, this freehold condominium is built around a conserved 1902 Anglo-Malay bungalow converted into its clubhouse.
The project won the Best Ultra Luxury Condo Architectural Design and Highly Commended Best Ultra Luxury Condo Development at the 11th annual PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards (Singapore) in 2021.
The project also won the Best Ultra Luxury Condo Development and Best Ultra Luxury Condo Interior Design at the 13th annual PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards (Singapore) in 2023.
Dalvey Haus
Alongside these awards, LKHS bagged the Layout Excellence Award at EdgeProp Singapore Excellence Awards for another freehold residential development, Dalvey Haus.
A major development project in LKHS' portfolio, Dalvey Haus consists of 17 residential units located in prime District 10 within the Good Class Bungalow (GCB) enclave.
