A mistreated young girl, a handsome prince, a fairy godmother and a glass slipper — this is a ball you will not want to miss out on, as the classic fairy tale is reimagined by the national ballet company. Choreographed and staged by Janek Schergen, feel the wonder as this heartwarming story comes to life with costumes by local designer Leonard Choo and live music accompaniment by the Metropolitan Festival Orchestra. Starting from $55, get your tickets before the clock strikes midnight and do not forget your (pointe) shoes!

What: Sing60 Music Festival

Where: Fort Canning Park

Though National Day has passed, the spirit of Singapore’s 60th independence culminates in this two-day outdoor music festival. Spanning across two stages and multiple segments, the curated line-up features over 60 homegrown acts that traverse genres and generations. Singer-songwriters such as Benjamin Kheng, Shye and Shazza, indie acts like The Great Spy Experiment and Carpet Golf, or electronic sets by Aldrin and Deformed are only a glimpse of Sing60’s broad scope. Besides a local marketplace, the event includes charity initiatives like the ChildAid and Gift a Guitar showcases. From $40, each ticket sold will fund an underserved youth to attend the event.

What: Beauty and The Beast The Musical

Disney’s brand new production of this tale as old as time hits the stage with new sets, costume designs and advanced technology. Based on the 1991 animated film, the play is one of Broadway’s longest-running shows, having toured 37 countries worldwide. Now, marking its only stop in Asia, sing along to tunes by beloved characters who have shaped countless childhoods and continue to fill the hearts of audiences to this day.

As Labubu grabbed the spotlight, some might have noticed the quiet charm of the dreamlike Skullpanda. Since its inception by creator Xiong Miao in 2018, the infamous character line has gained popularity amongst collectors due to its non-absolute expression that embraces uncertainty. The upcoming international debut aims to provoke guests’ thoughts by contemplating six core themes that shape consciousness — emotion, fortune, rules, exploration, life and direction — through visually striking, interactive art installations.

What: Inside the Dream of a Durian Seller

For Singaporeans, the “king of fruits” symbolises identity, value and transformation. Rather than just a commodity or motif, the subconscious finds form as this exhibition redefines the island’s post-independence art history through the figure of the durian. Inspired by Cheong Soo Pieng’s iconic Durian Seller, the dialogue is extended through reflection and play involving various mediums. Ponder through works from established and emerging voices in contemporary art, including Chun U Bi, Jimmy Ong and Tisya Wong as well as Fyerool Darma, Shayne Phua and Justin Loke.
