Design ideas for your living space need not come from the pages of a home-decor catalogue. If you’re looking to create a home to make you feel like you’re on a perpetual holiday, hotels are a great first place to seek inspiration.

The St Regis Venice, designed by London-based interior design studio Sagrada, merges the hotel brand’s signature glamour with the classic beauty of the Italian city. First opened in 2019 but disrupted by the Covid-19 pandemic, the hotel — which includes 130 guestrooms and 39 suites — reopened its doors in 2022.

Each room in the St Regis Venice features a colour palette that reflects the way in which light morphs throughout the day. Inspired by Italian style and Venetian custom, the hotel is decorated with tailored fabrics and handcrafted furnishings, with curves taking their cue from the iconic gondolas seen throughout the city.

With six suite types, the St Regis Venice offers a range of experiences through distinct interior styles.

Located atop the hotel’s Ca’ Nova palace, the largest Penthouse Suite has three bedrooms and three bathrooms. Visual interest is in no short supply here; a fully furnished wraparound terrace offers broad views of Venice, while artworks by Olivier Masmonteil, Aurore de la Morinerie and others adorn the inside.

Floor-to-ceiling windows bathe the suite in sunlight, creating an airy, bright space. In the bathrooms are two types of open-faced marble — Brasilian Quarzite Atlantis and Italian Lasa Covelano Tiger — for a truly luxe way to soak at the end of the day.

Over at the St Regis Venice’s Presidential Suite, there are two bedrooms, two en-suite bathrooms and two powder rooms.

Decadent fittings and furnishings take this already-grand space to the next level. Rendered in unique hues, lounge sets comprising a velvet chaise, armchairs and coffee tables add playful elegance to the environment. In the master bedroom, meanwhile, a four-poster bed exemplifies grandeur. All this is offset by delicate objects d’art set throughout the suite, for a balanced space that is opulent but not overwhelming.
