HMGICS celebrates first anniversary with town hall led by Hyundai Motor Group Executive Chair Euisun Chung

Hyundai Motor Group Innovation Center Singapore (HMGICS) marked its first anniversary with a town hall meeting, with Group Executive Chair Euisun Chung emphasising the center's strategic role in advancing Hyundai's vision for future mobility solutions.

Since its inception, HMGICS has been at the forefront of innovation, driving advancements in manufacturing technology, redefining customer experience, and engaging with the local community. The centre has achieved significant milestones, including the implementation of an intelligent and automated cell-based production system, which has led to advancements in logistics and assembly automation.

Executive Chair Chung applauded the dedication and hard work of HMGICS employees, stating, "Our journey has been impressive so far, but the best is yet to come. We can meet the challenges ahead because we are Hyundai. We can meet the challenges because we have what it takes – the right people like you, and our vision of progress for humanity."

Hyundai Motor President and CEO Jaehoon Chang emphasised the role of HMGICS in the Group's long-term strategy, saying, "We will proactively develop essential technologies for future factories, such as AI, robotics, and automation, and verify their effectiveness through concrete projects."

Over the past year, HMGICS has showcased success in multiple areas, including the production of the Hyundai IONIQ 5, the first locally built EV in Singapore, and the debut of the Hyundai IONIQ 6. The center has also redefined the customer journey with immersive Discovery Tours and test rides on the Skytrack.

HMGICS actively engages with the local community by nurturing talent and collaborating with research institutions and universities.

The centre has increased its local workforce by 30 percent, with a focus on R&D and engineering roles, and partners with local institutions to offer internships and practical learning opportunities in advanced manufacturing and innovative technologies.
