APAC finalists selected for the Defender Trophy Global Final in Africa
Inspired by the epic overland exploits of the Camel Trophy, the modern day spirit of competition that lets intrepid adventurers push the Defender to its (and their) limits takes the form of the Defender Trophy.
Fret not though, it’s far less performative than your average Hyrox session, but every bit as mentally and physically gruelling, if not more so!
The fun and games of the different challenges aren’t all fun and games, but requires coordination, teamwork, strategic planning and driving dexterity – all the disciplines one needs to develop when you’re on an overland expedition.

The Asia-Pacific qualification rounds in southern Taiwan featured challenges that encompassed driving ability, mental agility, physical demands and collaborative energy, but ultimately ended in camaraderie.
24 participants from seven Asia Pacific markets took part in the two-day competition that would see the finalists advance to the Defender Trophy Global Final in Africa, hosted in partnership with Defender conservation partner Tusk.

Garth Turnbull, Managing Director, JLR Asia Pacific (pictured above), said: “Asia Pacific is one of the most diverse and dynamic regions in the world, and that breadth was clearly reflected in the calibre of competitors we saw in Taiwan. Defender Trophy is about more than technical capability; it’s about resilience, teamwork and a shared respect for the environments we explore. We are proud to see our Asia-Pacific winners represent the region at the Global Final in Africa. They embody the spirit of adventure and purpose that defines Defender, and we look forward to seeing them compete on the world stage in support of our long-standing conservation partner, Tusk.”
The Defender 110 Trophy Edition was created to honour Defender’s heritage and to commemorate the 45th anniversary of the first Camel Trophy. (pictured above: Dirty Defender is best Defender!)
The new model's Deep Sandglow Yellow (or Keswick Green, although we very much prefer the Deep Sandglow Yellow) recalls the Camel Trophy Defender.

Mark Cameron, Managing Director, Defender, said: “Global adventure and community have been the fabric of the Defender brand’s DNA for decades, staying true to its roots that can be traced back to the original Land Rover of 1948. Our unique new global adventure challenge will bring nations together, as competitors co-operate to navigate tough terrain, conquer extreme physical challenges and solve tactical tests – all united by a greater purpose.”
