Burberry was founded in 1856 by 21-year-old Thomas Burberry, a former draper’s apprentice who opened his own store in Basingstoke, Hampshire, England. By 1870, the company specialised in outdoor clothing. In 1879, Burberry introduced gabardine, a durable, water-resistant, and breathable fabric created by waterproofing the yarn before weaving. In 1891, the brand expanded by opening a shop in Haymarket, London.
Originally known for its ready-to-wear clothing, particularly the iconic trench coat designed in a distinctive British country manor style, Burberry has since expanded its reach into home products.
The maison is enhancing its home and decor collection with new lines of soft accessories and home fragrances, all inspired by Daniel Lee’s creative vision. The focus is on the festive season, with Burberry’s thoughtfully curated gifts reflecting the warmth and joy of the season. Lee is the creative director at Burberry and was the former creative director at Bottega Veneta.
This season’s offerings include wool cashmere cushions and blankets woven in Scotland. These showcase the classic Burberry Check and are complemented by cheerful wool stockings in seasonal designs. A new collection of Burberry-scented pillar candles features the Equestrian Knight Design with three distinct scents: Woodfire and Clove in Knight Blue, Ivy and Sandalwood in Ivy Green, and Ginger and Caramel in Hunter Taupe. These fragrances create inviting sensory experiences that bring the essence of the outdoors indoors.

To celebrate the gift-giving season, Burberry has also introduced a tea towel set that includes recipes for classic British dishes and desserts, such as beef Wellington, Eton mess, and mince pies. Made from linen cotton, the tea towels are adorned with hand-drawn illustrations of the dishes, evoking a sense of cherished family recipes passed down through generations.
