SP Mobility launches the first fast-charging EV hub in the Tengah public housing estate

Electric vehicle owners in Singapore's newest eco-town now have a faster way to power up right at their doorstep. SP Mobility has officially unveiled the nation's inaugural high-speed charging hub located the Tengah HDB estate. The facility marks a significant step forward in integrating green transportation infrastructure into residential areas.

Located next to the Plantation Plaza shopping mall between blocks 123 and 129, the station features eight direct current fast chargers capable of delivering up to 100 kilowatts, alongside six alternating current units. This combination allows motorists to quickly top up their batteries while running errands or opt for slower, overnight charging. Senior Minister of State at the Ministry of National Development and the Ministry of Transport Ms. Sun Xueling and Member of Parliament for the Choa Chu Kang GRC Dr Choo Pei Ling attended the launch, highlighting the governmental backing for the initiative.

The project aligns with the rapid population growth in Tengah, where more than 12,000 homeowners had already collected their keys by late 2025. SP Mobility, which currently operates the largest public rapid-charging network locally, plans to replicate this model across other neighborhoods. Starting in early 2027, similar hubs will roll out progressively in estates like Bedok North, Tampines, and Woodlands.

Dean Cher, managing director of SP Mobility, emphasised this lifestyle-centric approach: “As EV adoption accelerates, charging infrastructure must be designed around daily living. By launching Singapore’s first EV fast‑charging hub within an HDB estate, we are bringing high‑power charging directly into the heart of everyday life, making EV ownership more convenient, seamless and accessible for drivers in the community.”

Developed in tandem with EV-Electric, the hub offers drivers unprecedented versatility. Stephanie Tan, CEO of EV-Electric, noted that the facility "expands the network by giving drivers greater convenience, flexibility, and faster charging." To sweeten the deal, users can accumulate loyalty points through the SP mobile application to discount future power bills.
